For reference, this entire sequence is just 7 pages in the manga. They added so much scenes for the adaptation. Science Saru is Mappa on steroids yet they make sure everything is finished as scheduled or earlier so there are no production issues. And SS doesn't take too much projects at once per year either. The anime industry could learn a thing or two from them.

0:09 this is the first time momo and okarun willingly touch in a situation that is not for comedic effect
0:40 and this scene is the same situation as a previous scene earlier this episode, where okarun couldnt turn and ran off the cliff. But this time, because they combined their powers they could do it, emphasising momo and okarun's relationship and how they can overcome anything if they do it together

in japan this song is associated with sports festivals, and in america it's associated with horse racing. between the spotlight, the starting pistol, and the galloping sounds, this scene echoes both ideas. momo, who's interested in japanese ghosts, is doing the american association of riding, and okarun, who's interested in american cryptids, is doing the japanese association of running, because both of them are fully in sync with the other's world for the first time.

Lmao. The fact they had a moment where Momo is sitting on his back like they do in Japanese kid's competition races coupled with the music they normally play at in those races while he runs around at 100km/h is so cool and funny at the same time. Can't stop smiling to this.

As a manga reader, I couldn't be happier. This is my favorite scene of the whole show so far and it's not even on the manga. This moment is like just 3 page from beginning to the train, just him zooming fowards until he got there.
This is what I love about anime adaptations, where its not just simple filler to get to a specific episode lenght, but rather expanding on what's already there and never actually deleting content.
