Common Ground Producers and Growers helps Wichita residents

Показать описание
"When people do not have access to healthy food, they do not have a quality of life... So healthy food is critical."
Common Ground Producers and Growers, Inc. is working to make our community better through healthy, locally grown fruits and vegetables. They've grown from serving 11 communities inside Wichita with these food items just a few years ago to now, serving over 35 locations across the state!
When serving senior centers, the residents can use their U.S. Department of Agriculture food vouchers to purchase fresh produce.
"I don't have access to fresh produce," shared Wichita resident Monica Moderna. "When you're 87 and you don't get out much, it is difficult to get all the things you need."
Monica uses her food vouchers when the Common Ground Producers and Growers Mobile Market comes to her neighborhood. She shared the market usually draws a crowd of people very appreciative to now have access to fresh food. "Absolutely. You can tell by the crowds that everyone else is glad that they are here too!."
Common Ground Producers and Growers was a recipient of our equity grant, Promise on the Plains. This grant serves the black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities.
