Shanks is from Roger's era and using Reyleigh's sword. He definitely trained under Him and earned his respect and he knows things and learned form Roger while traveling.

Feel like I’ve never seen conquerors haki damage surrounding stuff. Except when Shanks boarded Whitebeard’s ship. The lv of his haki must be incredible.

Remember that episode where shanks and white beard met up at sea with Saki, white beards men with weak will power couldn’t even stand i front of him, you can hear the vice captains saying “his haki is unbelievable” I think he just mastered haki above all the other emperors are probably just natural monsters with strong haki

Simplest answer is that
Shanks (one of the emperor) is sole representative of all non-devil fruit strongest persons like sanji, zoro, garp, roger, releigh etc.

I think Oda did that on purpose. So that there will be sort of weight from non-devil fruits side. One can still achieve the status of yonko without the devil fruit power.

My theory on shanks heritage is that his bloodline was formerly celestial dragon like doffy and that’s why he was able to walk into the marine base so trusted because he isn’t a normal human

Garp and roger definitely not normal. Even their strength without haki is insane. Their genes is crazy .. he could be one of those outlier gifted monsters. Like when you have a character who is naturally a monster due to their talent and strength without training much

I feel like him saying they aren’t human is just a hint that in order to be considered on a Yonko’s level you’re going to have to basically break what people thought as human power. Like basically be impossibly strong to where you aren’t seen as the same species. Which makes sense, and with the latest OP chapters Luffy is crossing that boundary. It’s impressive how Shanks accomplished things like that with 1 arm and 0 devil fruit though.

Dude, 1 of the people that Kaido respects and could comfortably beat him in his prime is Garp. To say he is a different creature from other vice admirals amd admirals is applicable. He just built different bro.
