What a jerk... You shouldn't judge spanish speakers if you don't get our language. "Dame una cerveza" is imperative, but not in the bad way. It is actually kind of a friendly way to ask for something.

We never say "oye, dame una cerveza" but rather "podrias ponerme una cerveza, por favor" or even using the formal tense (i.e. "usted", which by the way you don't have in Engish). Where did you go in Spain? Probably to Benidorm or Magaluf with your polite fellow hooligans who year after year end up drinking, fighting, destroying pubs and cities.
