Video Segment - Gobo Projectors (A Side by Side Comparison)

We put the Elation Image Pro 300 and the American DJ Gobo Projector LED together for a side by side comparison of these two popular gobo projectors.

The smaller gobo size of the American DJ unit means less detail is available. You notice the extra detail that was in your shows logo on the Image Pro. Also the image pro weighs in at a heavy 23.5 lbs so you'll want to use pipe and base when projecting onto a dance floor. This unit has been discontinued. Not sure what is replacing it but i bet it is LED. Great job Jose and nice seeing you in Vegas.

Great job, although I would have enjoyed you also reviewing the Martin PRX1 along in the mix. I personally think it's the best and most functional gobo projector for us mobile DJ's. Looking forward to more videos!

Where do you get the gobos for the Elation?

I applaud your homegrown efforts at a meaningful production as I have been looking for a Gobo projector for a series I will be shooting soon. On a pure production level though you really need to find someone that knows lighting as your video is being shot in the dark! The other thing I cannot believe which is if you're going to compare lighting equipment then why not get a meter to give some actual meaning to the comparison?

Very nice comparison. One question. I want to print my own gobo at home using a transparent paper on my laser printer. Obviously the LED will put out less heat than the Elation. Correct?

I recently used the ADJ Gobo LED mounted on a 10 ft stand. I projected it onto the dance floor and got an image about 3ft across. Way too small!! What's the best way to get a larger image? Help! thanks for your video

Dude, you're asking something that the unit wasn't designed to do. This said using various lenses will change the size of the image with ease! Just measure the barrel diameter and then use your High School physics book. I mean by this go to eBay and get some lenses that you can tape on the barrel. You'll have to experiment but you can even use some PVC tube to move the lens out on the barrel. This is the only way to make something do what you want but for which it was never intended.
