Welcome to another devlog for Dauphin! In this episode I bring you with me on my typical weekend as I work through my usual routine trying to balance development progress alongside everything else going on in life - now including a 13 week old puppy! Hope you enjoy the video and the cool progress I managed to work through over the weekend.

When you're underwater, you should add a neat little water trail effect to the projectile, maybe with some bubbles or something too. I think that would look cool.

Nice to see that the weather is kind to your plants! We're still waiting for spring and our garden is dead. I think we started planting too early :| Cute dog. Dogs are gods

Gosh, I've been watching all your videos over again the past few days. I often struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle while making games as a hobby. I just get sucked in and want to work on them way more than is neccessarily good for me. These videos are helping me realize that maintaining a healthy lifestyle while being a game developer is totally possible and worth it. It's inspiring to see you working a full-time job and still having time for game development and healthy living.

I am loving the progress on this game. I get so excited every time you upload a new devlog. One thing I want to say about the secondary attack, though, is that I think the release of the attack should be controlled by the player. The charge time makes it so that if you miss it's much more frustrating, so having it be split into two 'commands' would allow for a bit more player control. The way I'd do it would be to have the attack start charging on right-click down then a charge bar fills up. If the button is released before the charge is done the attack 'fizzles' if the player waits until the charge is finished they can then release the right-click which will trigger the release of the attack towards the cursor position at that moment. This allows for the player to keep a charged attack at the ready and aim it properly for those enemies that move around a lot. You could implement a timer that auto-shoots the attack after 2-3 seconds so the player can't just hold the attack forever but that little extra bit of control I believe would go a long way. Just my two cents though.

It's amazing that some people can be so healthy and well organized! In 2012 I made a game called The Cat Lady on a diet of coffee and cigarettes in between my full-time day job and childcare, often staying up till 5 AM or making notes on little bits of paper at work and sticking them in my pocket ;) I'm not complaining - of course - my point is that different approach works for different people. I do sometimes wish I was *slightly* more organized ;) and I very much respect devs who are.

Inspiring stuff! I’m also juggling life and passion project, so it’s encouraging to watch your game come together slowly but surely.

Hey dude! Love the devlogs! They're really motivating for me starting my own projects and a perfect breakfast / lunch break video to watch ^^! This might've been asked several times, but would it be possible for you to do an in-depth video how you're using Notion as a project management tool? I think this is the number one thing I struggle with the most haha, and it might benefit others as well!

Anyway, keep up the good work! Can't wait to eventually play Dauphin!
Cheers.

Would be super interesting if you could do a whole video about how you organize your life (I mean the methods and mindset), because you seem to be really good at it. In the end you just said "planning and discipline", bascially to talk more about that and how to achieve it.

I really like the coral wand and projectile you made for it. Keep up the great work on this!

I have a (slightly dystopian) idea! I like the terrain getting corrupted, but it looks a little weird with a purple tree on bright sand. This could be visual or gameplay affecting, but maybe the floor becomes purple and corrupted while corrupted creatures are around, and curing them causes the ground to normalise. It could really help that “spreading corruption” theme. If you want to make it a gameplay theme, have it slow you down and corrupt you. It could even be placed manually, meaning you could make some cool puzzles (like a ranged enemy surrounded by corrupted tiles, forcing you to cast at them). It’s up to you. Also, love your content!

Also, the jellyfish keep corrupting themselves when you cure them due to their AoE attack.
