What Makes the Supplement Tianeptine So Addictive?

Tianeptine is available in Europe as a highly-regulated antidepressant, but it never really ended up on the shores of the United States until it found its way here as a supplement. What is it about the drug that makes it so addictive? Psychiatrist Dr. Domenick Sportelli explains that tianeptine binds to opioid receptors and he cannot believe that it’s being marketed as a nutritional supplement.

This is such BS. If you don’t abuse it, Tianaa is amazing for anxiety and depression. If you take it all day every day of course you become dependent. drink alcohol all day every day and watch what happens. Come on y’all

It is hard to quit for ex-addicts who start to abuse it. Since it has glutaminergic actions, it surpresses the addictions and drug-induced stress. This is why it is a nightmare for abusers to quit. While taken therapeutically, at reccomended dosage, it is a miracle drug for stressed people and recovering addicts, and has no withdrawal and doesn't build up the tolerance. Truly amazing drug, if taken responsibly, and truly painful, if abused by addicts.

Tianeptine is definitely a fascinating substance, and without question, it serves a purpose as a treatment in the mental health field. Like this guy said in the video, it becomes a nightmare when it's available in the unregulated supplement market. Coming off this stuff had me suicidal. It's an awful addiction, but that doesn't mean it's going to negatively affect everyone.

Also, it does so much more than simply unlock the opioid receptor. It affects glutamate, dopamine, and potentially has some NMDA receptor antagonism activity going on. Weird stuff. The sulfate form is much smoother and has a longer half life. The sodium form is where folks get into trouble with the whole compulsive re-dosing cycle. Not fun. But still, as a last resort option, it has saved lives in many cases.

It's far from addictive if taken how it is therapeutically prescribed.
Since making drugs illegal has solved all of America's drugs problem we should just add this one to the list.

If anyone is suffering from addiction please read this comment carefully! You need to switch from sodium to sulfate and wean your dosages down, I've done it a handful of times! Start dropping your dosage weekly! Once you get your dosages low enough you CAN switch to kratom! It's possible, I've done it plenty of times! And if you can get suboxone, even better! But if not wean down! Once you get down to 200/300mg start introducing the kratom into play. Good luck, you guys can do it! You gotta have will power!

If you dont have an addictive personality this is a great nootropic. I can take this a few times a month and never get addicted to it.

Just take it as we prescribe it in Europe - 12.5 mg 3 times a day. Problem solved.

Didn't really address why tianeptine is so addictive

Actually Methadone & Tianeptine both share some physical characteristics plus mechanism of action. They're both open chain opioids & are stored from Heptane. (I've always wondered why Heptane)?

I just bought a bottle of this stuff thinking it was kratom. I took one of them and then looked it up, and realized this is not kratom, I'm pretty worried now Im just waiting for it to work.

I consider it about as addictive as coffee. If not abused it has almost no side effects or withdrawal symptoms. There can be a short "crash" especially with the sodium form, but it lasts only a couple hours and is bearable.

While it does feel much like an opiate, there are key differences which make it totally unique. For example, it is much less of a physical depressant. Not anything close to depressing your breathing or heart rate like a typical opiate.

Yes it can be used recreationally but I honestly never find myself using it for that purpose. And I have a pretty addictive personality. It's marketed as a nootropic in the states because it does have properties that can enhance productivity. Overall amazing substance for both anxiety and doing work. Nothing else like it.

Ex IV heroin user... nothing compares to a 250mg dose on a lowered tolerance

Its worth it if you suffer from severe depression & anxiety. And tried everything thru your doctor for 20 years. The sulfate form isn't addicting. Like every thing you do a risk benefit analysis, for some people like me it's worth it .

The prescription aspect is because in comparison to the gas station pills that are sold the average prescription is about 1/8 of the potency of just a single capsule and we all know that people who Abuse it I was former I was taking three bottles a day but I quickly realize it was addictive now I’m down to less than a bottle a day and pushing list so people are taking 2 to 3 capsules at once which is 24 times standard dose and then you and the fact that dirt reducing several times per day and I have read and none of people take a bottle in one sitting they’ve been taking it for a year or two and your tolerance is Rose is a tool that can be used once in a while but not on a daily basis in my opinion

It's awful, I was fully addicted after a month. The withdrawals are worse than oxycontin. I still have these weird electric shocks feeling that I can't control. Almost like a tic you'd see in someone with tourettes.

It feels NOTHING like strong opioids. If you use this correctly, it’s not easy, it really works well for depression
