Hello, I’m a beginner who recently entered the hobby. I have an empty 75 gallon tank that’s never been used and I’ve decided to put some fish in it. After doing lots of internet research, I came across your channel. Most channels I found were very advanced and went into crazy detail on certain subjects. Don’t get me wrong, that’s great. But as a beginner I found it a bit overwhelming. You’re channel has helped me realize that fish keeping doesn’t need to be as difficult as it seems. I don’t have any fish yet, but that will soon change. Thanks a bunch.

Ive established a few tanks. After major incident with the 125 gallon andbit crashed my cycle. I had no choice but to restart with fish in cycle. Left lights off and it took almost 2 weeks for bloom to disappear. Redosed with prime and stability, once bloom cleared, i got my ammonia reading! Like Kev says, do not water change and let the tank do its thing!

I have a 10 gal aquarium with 6 neon tetras, been esthablished for months. Then after treating an algue problem (my water wasn't cloudy at this point), I did a water change and my water became cloudy and greenish as hell. I even went to get my water analyzed and nothing was considered wrong with it. I got so frustrated because I kept doing partial water changes and it STILLS wouldn't fix my cloudy green water. I was wrong obviously and didn't know. Thank god I came across this video, I'm officially leaving the tank alone, I'll be patient and hopefully my water will clarify in a few weeks.

Kev..you explained this very well. I had a bad bacterial bloom awhile back. Being honest..I became frustrated and very impatient because I hate the way bacterial blooms ruin the appearance of my tank. So I did a water change. Worst thing I ever did! Made it worse than it was before water change. So left tank alone even when my OCD kicked in big time.🤣 Took almost a month and finally cleared. I'm looking forward to seeing your video on blackboard algae Kev. I'm starting to see that in my tank as well. Great video Kev! Glad 450 has finally cleared.❤❤😊

Thanks for this video. Some of the best advice outhere. I just recently set up my first serious 52 gallon tank, the first time I filled it up, it was pretty ckear, but the next day it looked disgusting. Im guessing its due to the bioload/organic material coming from the potting soil under the gravel cap. I also used stability and ammonium chloride solution which has seem to speed up the cycling process. After 16 days I am starting to notice the water becoming clearer. If anyone experiences this please take this mans advice, be PATIENT and DO NOT do water changes.

What I do for really cloudy water is take a powerhead and a water bottle and fill the water bottle up with polyfill of course you have to cut the bottom of the water bottle off and just stuff it in there and within a couple hours to a day you will have crystal clear water

I saw your other video “just chill” about this and I’m going on almost a month I believe on this cloudy water issue. I’m doing prime and stability everyday, I had ONE day where it got better, and now it’s milk again. It’s making me depressed lol. It’s about a year old maybe more, has been crystal for most its life. I’m about to dump all the water out please help lol.

what is "prime and stability" specifically Prime? should I wait 10 days or wait for weeks without treatment?

You’re the man! I almost thought those thin little clouds in my tank were filaments of cyanobacteria. I had some before I put in a wave maker and it disappeared. My only problem I have left is the fish waste will accumulate at the bottoms right before my intake. I have an Oase Biomaster but the inlet really doesn’t have enough suction. I might swap over to the Fluval or use both in tandem

First of all' thanlks alot Kav! i started seen your clips only few days ago and i'm loving it!
I don't know what to do honestly! I have a 120 gallon aquarium that I put together about a month ago. i don't have plants to this stuff. only rock. i put Seachem Prime as i should and put a small Cichlid fish (10). i gave them twice a day food but not so much (the food didn't even come to the ground!) i gave them lil every time. now, after a month, i'm having a cloudy water (white). like a fool, i did a water change (like 30%) and it's still the same.
i started to decrees the feding (only 1 time in 2 days). i now know NOT TO DO ANYTING. hopfullly like you showed and said, it'll be back again like it was!
just a quick one, do i need to add more Seachem Prime?

I had a bacteria bloom on my 5g tank when I first set it up and it was using up the oxygen in the water so the fish were gasping at the surface. I therefore did a 50%water change to increase the oxygen and reduce stress on the fish. I then added an airstone to keep the water aerated and then I added paramecium to feed on the bacteria bloom and next morning the water was crystal clear.

The tank is looking awesome with the combination of fish you chose.
