So glad that you mentioned the animal eye AF/tracking for birds because I shoot birds. What makes it interesting is the Canon R5 supposedly has surpassed at least the A7R IV and possibly the A9's animal eye AF/tracking, so I am sure a lot of people would like to find out whether the A1 has now caught up to the R5 and retaken the lead.

Even if your just produce 4k or 2k having a camera with higher ability allows you to do a lot stuff in post production

It’s basically an A7S3 with a different sensor, added dial, updated radio, Ethernet port and no flip screen.
Video wise, while you do get 8K, there is no 8K raw like the Canon R5. And while the Canon captures oversampled 4K, the Alpha 1 makes do with pixel binned 4K or cropped 4K.
Imo this is really a camera for those that are mainly focused on stills shooting. The rear record button, and tilt screen hint at this intent.

As for price... the Canon is almost half the price of this, and is arguably the better camera for video shooters. While the Canon can overheat after 30 minutes or so of 8K... so will the Alpha 1, as it uses the exact same heat sink as the A7S III, which we know will overheat shooting extended 4K @120P.

I think for video shooters the Canon R5 and Sony A7S III are both more compelling options. For the price of the Alpha 1 you could buy the FX6, which is a much more capable camera for 99% of users. The Alpha 1 is a tough sale... at least for my use.
