Spring Lawncare - Do these 4 things FIRST

Do these 4 easy steps First thing in the spring to bring your lawn back to life.

Spring time can be a frustrating time on knowing where to begin when your lawn is brown and dingy. My four easy spring steps will show you where to start in your lawn care journey.

Step 1- Scalp mow the lawn. Scalping the dead tissue off the top is the first step to getting the brown out of the lawn and letting the new tissue thrive.

Step 2- Dethatch the lawn. I prefer to use the sun joe dethatcher and scarifier. its a fantastic tool to getting the excess debris off the top of the soil

Step 3- use a scarifier to remove excess thatch. excess thatch will prohibit new blade growth. By removing the thatch your lawn will grow new blades of grass and thicken up.

Step 4 - use a nitrogen based fertilizer to give the lawn what it needs early spring time.

Watering is going to be area specific. The general rule of thumb is to never let the soil dry out.

The best purchase i have ever made for my lawn.If you have too much thatch you are WASTING your money on fertilizer.Last August i thought my lawn was shot. Come September when the temp was cooler i dethached with my new Greenworks 10 amp dethatcher . Immediately applied Scotts fall lawn fertilizer and the results were beyond amazing . For about a 140 bucks this machine picked up so much thatch in a matter of 20 min that would have taken me all day with a rake .Now all my fertilizer reaches the soil after a i water it in .

My lawn came out 90% green. After our rain it greened up nice. I put down 29-0-4 then it rained/snowed. I’m sure it will really pop now. 60ish degrees next week 😊

Gorgeous lawn! Mine is currently buried under snow and an 80’ hemlock brought down by the recent nor’easter. 😢 I hand dethatched my 9000sf lawn last fall. Time to buy one of those machines and also scarify. TY for great advice always.

Great video I love the easy steps! Now, I'm located in Western Canada coming off of reseeding my lawn in the fall last year, and it looked great. Green, lush, very healthy. We are very early into our spring with warm weather, but my lawn which looked great, looks like garbage, Very yellow, very dormant, and no where near close to my neighbouring lawns that are getting very green already. I'm getting concerned it will not grow back like it had even after having fertilized once a week or so ago. Any tips for me would be amazing!

Utah IFA gang. I’m high on PH so I think that bag is good too cuz the source is of the nitrogen ammonium solphate. But I’m no expert

Never done ANY of this and I have the best yard in the neighborhood NO LIE. I’ve developed my own system no dethaching no aeration my yard has been thick and green for several weeks now and I have about a dozen people a year knock on my door and ask me how I do it 🤷🏻‍♂️
