Canadians sound like Americans except on a few occasions: Predominantly French speaking Canadians, and regular ole Canadians using different vowels in specific circumstances. I always though Tigh/Hogan sounded more Irish than anything. Not pure Irish, but definitely from that background. I thought perhaps it was just the character, but after only a cursory look through the net this dude basically sounds the same -- some sort of Irish.

Also, can Australians even tell the difference between an American, and a Canadian accent? Most Americans couldn't tell unless some specific linguistic boundaries were crossed, and in most cases we would probably think they were just far northerners (like Wisconsin, or Idaho for example).

Sorry to be late to the party! I instantly know Michael was a Canadian by his 'accent'. Especially in the scene where he is accused of drinking and has the flask in his tunic. He might have been able to 'swallow' "out" but the rhythm and inflection in his speech pattern is as Canadian as it gets! 😁🍁
