I have the 15 pro max and it is super solid but the noise really gets to me sometimes. I run with this rule, if it's in the summer, then iphone for vlogging. No need for ND Filters and all that. Indoor though or winter time, run with my Canon as much as possible. But at the end of the day, whatever is easiest will win and the iPhone does that well. I don't want to miss a moment on a travel vlog because I was setting exposure....I also still enjoy buttery smooth shots.

I am a beginner researching about smartphone filmmaking using the iPhone 15 ProMax (smartphone lenses 1.33x & 1.55x). I watched tutorial videos covering the iPhone 15 ProMax use with the filmic pro app (now includes ProRes Apple Log). Have you tested 1.33x and/or 1.55x lenses on the iPhone 15 ProMax using Filmic Pro or the Blackmagic camera app? What are your thoughts in the results post production or in general relating to the topic discussed in this video as far as digital noise goes?

For the average person, really, the newer model iPhones are all that’s needed for incredible results. Particularly if they learn its features and build some post processing skills.

I remember when we shot film and crossed our fingers we got two or three good ones …

Very interesting! Now I know what kind of things to look for to find chroma noise and sharpening problems.

What editing program do you use on a PC for photos and videos?

My guess is that the crop on the iPhone app is due to the video stabilization feature. Some phones crop the video to have a "wiggle room" on the edges for stabilizing the shot

I enjoyed the comparison. As an iPhone 15 Pro Max user, I have been amazed with the quality of both still shots and videos.

May I offer you a YT tip? The “music” playing while you’re talking makes it harder to understand you (even on an iPhone 15 Pro Max😊). It’s similar to the noise in the images. May I suggest you kill the music except for intros and transitions? Thanks!

It's a shame there is no way to get raw data out of the iPhone sensor. And what I mean by that, is raw data BEFORE the sharpening process. It feels like the iPhone sharpens the image as part of the sensor pipeline.

It gives an artificial look the reminds me of gopros or other cheap action cameras. It's too bad both sharpness and noise reduction aren't more configurable on the iPhone. I do like your DaVinci Resolve trick though!

could it be the iphone does not have a better lenses but has a LIVE auto correct function? So what we see on the iphone is also not completely real but calculated animation corrected on top of the real photo? 😮

Is the crop because of image stabilation?

Bro, you need to turn off thr 'stabilize video' in settings to get the widest view possible

I could swear all these footage was shot with an iPhone. Maybe I’m just not a fan of the lumix colors.

The lumix isn’t a “pro” camera. It’s not even a “prosumer” camera.
