Wow! Only one day in Big Bend NP, maybe 2? I visited for 5 days and felt like I barely scratched the surface... That park is absolutely huge, so much to see and do. I'm guessing you just drove through the two main roads and did the Santa Elena trail, which is the shortest hike in the park. You didn't even mention the Lost Mine and South Rim trails which, along with the Guadalupe Peak trail in Guadalupe NP, (which you did mention) round out the top 3 hikes in the state of Texas. Still, great video of a most definitely underrated part of the country.

Your videos are rad! They’ve helped me map out americas gnarliest spots. This summer I’m planning a crazy camping trip with my dog from Pennsylvania to Florida and then to Montana and down the west coast. I want to get my YouTube rolling and make videos while I continue to travel. You’re an inspiration!

I did a similar trip a few years ago that included Big Bend, White Sands, Guadalupe Mountain, and Carlsbad Caverns and flew in and out of El Paso. It's still one of my favorite national parks trips ever.

Great Video! I was pushing for a trip almost exactly like this, for kids spring this year. Spend a week visting four national parks by driving from Big Ben, to Guadalupe M, Carlsbad Caverns and then White Sands. We did a Flordia trip instead, which was great, however I will be pushing for something like this again next year!

Love this, especially as a Texan! I haven't made it to Palo Duro Canyon yet, but hope to soon. I also want to do Caprock Canyons State Park, which is about 100 miles southeast of Palo Duro Canyon and home to one of the few remaining wild bison herds in Texas. West Texas, particularly the whole Big Bend region, is one of the most rugged and unassumingly beautiful areas I've ever seen.

We did a day trip to Palo Duro and got lucky enough to get campsites at Copper Breaks & Caprock Canyons State Parks - saw a bison jam on a trail at Caprock Canyons & had to turn back!

I just drove from Bulverde Tx to El Paso recently. Traveling seven hours a day. On the road lots of 18 wheelers. The 18 wheelers were nice. I never ever want to drive this trip again. It has hardly any cities to get gas. Roads go up and down and curvy. Non ending. Driving Driving. Driving. Interstate with sharp turns. It wasn’t a fun drive. It was not an easy drive. But if you are into an adventure, why not. As I was driving on I-10, I wondered why there weren’t a lot of cars. Because it is a tough haul. Like running a marathon. A marathon can be done but it is only for the strong in mind and heart.

Weather and wind are factors on climbing El Capitan, especially when a front blows through . So do your homework on that !
Also Summer time in Palo Dura Canyons as they have ( Texas Sized ) Horse Flys that bring blood and wounds, and hurt like hell..

Caprock Canyon, Fort Davis and Copper Breaks State Parks are also amazing Texas state parks, the west Texas region is filled with great sites. Love seeing your videos and plan on using them for our second Utah trip in the Kanab area.

As an Englishman, I feel a deep longing for West Texas. Please tell me, what makes this land so special for YOU? I would greatly appreciate a measure of understanding for what makes this land so unique and so greatly loved. I write stories. I wish to sew some of your wisdom into my writing.
