✈ 777 wind shear at SIN - SQ

Singapore airlines flight 1 from Hong Kong landing on approach over Malaysia to Singapore Changi. A really hard landing! You can see in the video that the plane came down really fast! I thought maybe that maybe the pilot misjudged the plane's weight and flew too slowly, so the nose was already up meaning he could not flare on touchdown. Or there was wake turbulence. Or there was wind shear. Nothing broke though! Great way to arrive to Singapore!

On a B773ER. To runway 20C. Economy class. August 2011.

I have had a commercial pilot tell me that rapid decent to the runway is called a "hole" and I have been on flights where you feel the pilot accelerate before touching down to avoid the hard hit on the runway. My pilot friend told me pilots will automatically do that to make for a smoother landing.

@JeremyB787 You know there isn't four seasons in SEA right, mostly hot weather. So basically the hot air rises up and causes turbulance. So this makes it challenging for the pilots to land.

That's definitely a windshear. Just look carefully at the angle of the wing just before the touchdown. The pilot did flare, but just not enough to be obvious, nor enough to cope with that windy conditions

I don't know, but my feeling is, the pilot did not flare the 777 but instead they pushed the plane down when it was time to flare... My feeling only, and there should be a turbulence or wind shear, so common in Singapore. Nice video anyway!

Can anyone tell me why Singapore Changi Airport has plenty of bad landings. Bad weather? Turbulence? Or just coincidence?
