About David Wilkerson

David Wilkerson was the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.

In 1987, David Wilkerson returned to "the crossroads of the world" to establish Times Square Church. As a pastor of the church, he faithfully led this congregation, delivering powerful biblical messages that encourage righteous living and complete reliance on God.

David Wilkerson had a strong burden to encourage and strengthen pastors throughout the world. From 1999 to 2008, he traveled around the globe holding conferences for Christian ministers.

This is August 8, 2024 and this message touched on so much I have went through in the past few years. No one has preached on this and I never told anybody I was going through them. God knew I needed to hear this today. Praise His Holy wonderful name. I do know for a fact He was the one getting me through these fires. I clung to His mighty hand!

I’m in this furnace now. It’s been hard, harder than I could have ever imagined, and yet I know, that the Father knows I am weak and is showing much mercy.

I truly understand some of what David cried out to God with tears, a dry throat, in weakness and despair.

I prayed for God to purify my heart, and to squeeze out every impurity. I felt a sword stab my back, and a huge hand entered into me, and squeezed my heart, and I was filled with fire. I fell over and thought I would die.

Ever since, I've had this fire rise up in me at times. sometimes its full of love, sometimes its purging me. I also experienced the Lord as a great wind that fell on me months before and when I think about it, I feel a fraction of it again. But when it happened, I immediately sang in tongues, it was uncontrollable. I sang for hours, and then I cried and prayed for hours.

The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. The Lord is good.

I obviously had no understanding of the baptism of fire. I love DW I wish more preachers were like him. Full of passion for the Lord!! Two weeks ago I had a good friend die that I thought God was going to heal. For just a moment I could feel my faith waining. Then I remembered God‘s faithfulness and who he is. Then I was like there had to be a reason that I just didn’t understand and I didn’t blame God. Knowing God’s character can help through difficult times so we don’t think he turned his back on us.
