Although he's thwarted, Mert becomes even better friends with Yaman. Mira helps Yaman study for the university entrance examination, but nothing could prepare Yaman for the ultimate test: the return of his wayward brother, who makes an impossible request.

Smart but troubled Yaman Koper is taken in from the streets by affluent lawyer Selim Serez and his wife, Ender. Yaman immediately bonds with the Serezes' nerdy son, Mert, who strives to win the heart of Eylul Buluter, his lifelong crush. Although initially reluctant to let Yaman stay in her house, Ender accedes after Yaman's mother is sent to prison. Yaman soon falls in love with the beautiful girl next door, Mira Beylice, but Mira's parents, Faruk and Sude, prefer her privileged boyfriend, Orkun Civanoglu, who constantly makes Yaman's life difficult. Faruk experiences financial trouble and marital problems with his manipulative wife. Selim and Ender's marriage is jeopardized by conflicts with Ender's father, Asım Sekip Kaya. And Yaman's dark past, personified by his parents and miscreant brother, never stops haunting him, even as Mira's parents vow to send her far away from all the turmoil.
