Honestly...Orochimaru is a good dad. Log and Mitsuki trust him, he trains them a lot, he attends parent-teacher conferences, Log offered his organs up to Mitsuki so clearly Orochimaru raised him to be a good and empathetic person, and Orochimaru seems very kind to them. His only downside that we see so far is him manipulating Mitsuki once he was awakened, but it’s not like he was manipulating Mitsuki into being evil.

Orochimaru is quite skilled actually in hand to hand combat and other areas, he also always has a backup plan, i honestly prefer fights that show real skill rather than big jutsus that explode mountains.
