Garmin eTrex SE - How To Project Waypoint

If you're out hiking or exploring and need to navigate to a point that's not directly reachable by foot, you can use the projecting a waypoint feature on your Garmin eTrex SE GPS device. This allows you to create a new waypoint that is a set distance and bearing away from an existing waypoint. Here's how to do it:

1. Select the waypoint you want to start from: Turn on your eTrex SE and navigate to the "Waypoints" menu. Select the waypoint that you want to use as your starting point for the projection.

2. Choose "Project Waypoint": Once you've selected your starting waypoint, press the "Menu" button and choose "Project Waypoint" from the options.

3. Enter the distance and bearing: You'll see a screen that allows you to enter the distance and bearing you want to project the new waypoint. You can enter the values manually or use the "Up" and "Down" arrows to adjust them.

4. Confirm the projection: Once you've entered the distance and bearing, press "OK" to confirm the projection. Your eTrex SE will calculate the coordinates of the new waypoint and add it to your list of saved waypoints.

5. Navigate to the new waypoint: You can now navigate to the new waypoint by selecting it from your list of saved waypoints and following the compass arrow on your device's screen.

That's it! Now you can project waypoints on your Garmin eTrex SE to navigate to any point you need, even if it's not directly reachable by foot.
