"Happy Pride! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Last summer we put out a special LGBTQ+ version of 'Boyfriend' for one day only on Bandcamp and donated all of the proceeds to The Trevor Project. I know some of you missed out on it, so this year for pride we decided to make it available to you all on streaming services!

The story goes like this: last year, the internet informed me that this song is considered a bit of an anthem to a lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community. The original song is about me pining over a boy in an incredibly unhealthy way and because of this, I’ve grown to really dislike the song and performing the song. Finding out it had a different meaning to the queer community excited me and I wanted to find a way to give back.

I hope you listen to it this summer with your boo or whoever you wish was your boo 🤎 Love you lots and Happy Pride!!!"

I love the lead vocalist, but their inflection is so much better in the original

The lyrics are definitely a bit less cohesive like this, but knowing it's a love letter to the LGBTQ+ community makes me really happy. The vocals and instruments are *really* good. It feels like getting a live performance in a small studio. Only thing missing is some cheering at the end.
