Or say you're having technical difficulties and take a screenshot of the part of the assignment that's done, and call it "proof" that you have actually done the assignment
Works every time

The absolute best thing I ever did in college was sitting down on the first day and compiling all the syllabus assignments into one giant due date list and printing that out. Never missed an assignment and did wonders for my anxiety.

Don’t take this as 100% proof that this will always work because every professor has a different attitude and patience for something like this. It could really go either way.

My teachers: “So you’re telling me that you’ve been irresponsible and you have the audacity to ask for an extension? Absolutely not. See me after class tomorrow.”

jesus when tf did this get 10k

A better and less risky one:
As long as it doesn’t happen too often, submit an assignment for another class.
Then work on the assignment quickly.
They will most likely reply in 3-4 hrs/tell you in class that you’ve sent the wrong file, and you can submit the “right file” that you “actually completed on time”. Thank me later

"hey teacher, I'm gonna send the homework a bit late"
"why?"
"I've been playing gta and got distracted"
"ok ok"

My professors: *Laughing in no late work accepted policy

My college professors sometimes accepted google docs instead of PDFs. I didn’t do it often, but if I needed the rest of that night I would send the Google Doc to them that they didn’t actually have access to and when they emailed the next morning, I’d apologize and either give them access (and hope that they didn’t check the version history with time stamps) or send a PDF

I’ve had professors be SUPER chill about giving out extensions, but I think at least 2 days beforehand was preferred. 24 hours might work with some depending on the professor, but I highly doubt asking 5 minutes before would look any less irresponsible to them and I don’t think anyone would accept it (unless maybe you were already really cool with them or something, but even then)…

Edit: Y’ALL!! I just found out that if you make it so that they can’t edit or comment on the document (so restrict sharing access to view only), then they can’t see your version history or the time of your last edit 🤯 I always made it so they could comment, but never again! This is amazing! Truly the perfect system and it just came in clutch with this last assignment of mine haha Be sure you know that they accept emailed Google Docs before relying on this though. And obviously it’s always better to finish it on time and not procrastinate but, well, this is also a good backup plan 😂

I did this in both highschool and college and it helped. In fact, one of my English teachers told me "I don't mind when you turn it in because I trust that you know what you are doing and it will be good" and when I did get in that essay, he loved it.

In Middle School, they handed us iPads to turn in our assignments through there and use them to learn too. Whenever I would miss assignments by at least a few hours to a day, I would go to the settings, and change the date and time to be able to trick the system and be able to turn in my work.

This is absolutely the case. It was 12 hours before my essay had to be in and I knew I was going to be cutting it fine. I emailed my tutor and explained I might need more time. She came back to me and said I could have another 24 hours. I finished it at 1:30am that night and got 94%! Literally my highest ever grade.

An even better pro tip: show yourself as being dependable, on the ball, and diligent.
You'll understand the work better, and therefore class will be easier. When things inevitably start to lag behind, or you need the teacher's leniency on something, they'll do everything they can to help you out.

Reputation as a diligent student Will make your life so much easier and let you have so much more freedom

I remember working on a project for my philosophy class. It was a video essay on how ones morality shifts when there are no consequences. I spent 7 hours the final day to finish it and right before submitting the file corrupted. I sent my teacher the email explaining what happened and she gladly gave me an extra two weeks to redo it

This is great, there are so many of these fake videos that say they “cheat the system “but this guy is genuine and honest👍

I did this in Algebra class last year, I was having an anxiety attack 30 minutes before the quiz was due so I sent an email asking for an extension. My teacher said I'd have to get like half of my overall grade taken off. She ended up just giving me my well deserved 100%, idk if she forgot but I always thank her for that lmao

That's true. So many of my teachers in hs have told us that if there are ever any issues that make us turn it in late, then to email them before. It even improves your communication mark. Just dont make this a pattern.

I actually thought this was gonna be dumb but he has a point. Owning up to your mistake honestly as early as possible is usually the best approach.

I was always told in school, that it’s better to hand a assignment in late, then hand in a sub par or unfinished assignment. But at my school you only lost 5% for an assignment being a day late

I caught covid for a week or so, and it wasn't that bad. Although, it was more like Flu type B. I was lucky to be able to even email my teachers about how I can't do any assignments because I felt really bad. They all were fine with it, and gave me extra time. They just said to have it turned in by next week(the week after the one I was in). If I emailed or talked to them late, they'll more likely be more aggitated and given me a shorter deadline. They were really nice :)
