For those questioning the Neymar figure - the transfer fee WAS indeed £48.6m. £34m was paid to a company called N+N, owned by Neymar’s parent, which held the majority of the player’s ownership rights. Meanwhile, £14.6m went to Santos. There was other money involved in the transfer which Barcelona had not made clear - resulting in the controversy surrounding the move. The money breaks down as follows:

Just to clarify on Neymar - the transfer fee WAS £48.6m. As with all the fees on this list that doesn't include agent's fees, wages, etc. BUT the club had not made these figures clear in their accounts, such as a €10m signing on fee, etc, which resulted in all the controversy surrounding the move. Such figures - while not part of the actual transfer fee - are common. For example Madrid paid a €3m signing on fee for Gareth Bale on top of his €100m transfer fee paid to Tottenham. Hope that makes sense!
