The median should always be included with the descriptive statistics. When the median and the mean are incredibly different, this would indicate your results are skewed due to some extreme outliers. For example, if there’s a few emails, you didn’t answer because you skipped over them, had technical difficulties, were non-standard cases, or whatever the reason answered them eight months later, it could really skew the results. You would see the mean much higher than the median, and instantly know there are outliers that need to be addressed.

Businesses have failed because they look at average income in a small country town, thinking the population has a higher level of disposable income than they really do, because the investor looked at the mean income and not the median. There’s that one billionaire in town that’ll doom your business before it starts, all because you looked at the wrong statistic. I’ve seen it 100 times.
