Did you know that the Ancient Toltec & Aztec Chinampas are being restored?

In late 2018, Adriana Powers journeyed to Mexico to film a series of permaculture sites in Mexico with the main focus and goal being the documentation of the work of De La Chinampas in Xochimilco, Mexico restoring the ancient chinampas. Explanations for their methods, the invasive species damage, the restoration efforts over the last decade, and the commercial revitalization have never before been shared in-depth in a documentary. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.

Learn HOW they are maintaining the fertility of the canals consistently and the unique way they plant their beds. If you want to learn about and build your own floating gardens, this documentary will be the BEST resource possible to guide your work and study!

great content, and also great to know that this tradition might yet carry on... a great example of what we can design into our lives, at different scales, and within culture.

Wonderful content in this video. Congratulations to the entire team! I live Michoacan and I have believed for some time the shallow lakes of the state could use this system to revitalize their ecology

Great information! I think it complements well another documentary by Rodrigo Lañado (that I found at the Permaculture News site) here on YT titled "Hombres de Maíz : Mesoamerican Permaculture: Chinampas 2.0 Fundraising edition"

Came to realize that one of the biggest parts of small scale farming is WATER. . . and best to have many barrels of water distributed with organic tea brewing if not doing something like this. seems best way to convert composted sewage to plants. got the idea: I am feeding GERMS, not plants. . .
