INGREDIENTS:
▪1.5lbs shrimp (51/60 shrimp)
▪3c (250g) cabbage, shredded
▪1.5c (1 medium) carrot, shredded
▪1 jalapeno, julienned
▪Handful of cilantro (⅓ of a bunch), chopped
▪Salt
▪1T + 1t (75g) honey or agave syrup
▪2 limes
▪2 ripe avocados
▪2 garlic cloves
▪Pinch of chile flake
▪1/2c (110g) mayonnaise
▪1 1/2T (25g) sriracha
▪Olive oil
▪1/2t (2g) paprika
▪1/2t (2g) chili powder
▪1/2t (2g) cumin
▪1/2t (1g) chile flakes
▪1/2t (2g) onion powder for guac, 1/2t (2g) for shrimp seasoning
▪1/2t (3g) garlic powder
▪6 Flour tortillas

INSTRUCTIONS:
Thaw shrimp in advance in the fridge or for 5 minutes under cold water.

Shred cabbage and julienne carrot and jalapeno. Combine shredded cabbage and julienned carrots and jalapeno in a bowl. Add a strong pinch of salt (don’t be shy). Add honey/agave and lime juice. Stir and taste for seasoning.

Remove shrimp from water and allow to drain while you prep the rest of the ingredients.

To make the weekday quac (avocado mash), Squeeze the flesh of 2 avocados into a bowl. Add a pinch of salt and juice of ½ a lime and 1 minced/pressed garlic clove, onion powder, and chile flake. Mash with a fork to combine.

Add mayo, sriracha, about 2tsp lime juice and 1 clove minced garlic. Stir to combine.

Heat tortillas in a dry non-stick pan until warmed through and floppy. Keep warm in a tortilla warmer until ready to use.

Add shrimp to a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil, tsp of salt, and about a 1/2t each of paprika, chili powder, cumin, chile flakes, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix to coat shrimp evenly.

Add oil to preheated nonstick pan over medium heat. Add shrimp (it should sizzle when it hits the pan). Spread shrimp into an even layer and allow to cook on side one for just about minute. Toss, spread into an even layer and continue to cook for about another minute or until shrimp have just turned opaque.

To assemble, add a spoonful of the weekday guac to a warmed tortilla followed by shrimp, slaw, and finally the spicy garlic mayo.

Dude this format is awesome, it’s nice seeing a recipe and knowing a realistic timeline on how long it will take!

Maybe I'm a dinosaur here, but as someone who grew up watching Food Network, I really loved this format. I've started to detest the TikTok and YouTube short recipes of people plopping down food on a cutting board and dizzily assembling ingredients in a blur all before only slowing down to perform the obligatory "knife drag to show how crunchy my food is!" maneuver.

Anyway, this calm, slower format is really what I love. Reminds me of things like Emeril Live, just having the chef show you in real-time how it's done while explaining their reasoning for things. It's really relaxing and informative. I hope to see more like this, thanks Bri.

This concludes the "old man screams at cloud" portion of the comment section.

Being good enough at both cooking and being in front of a camera to be able to whip up a dish AND talk all along without falling into the trap of incoherent rambling is definitely an underrated skill combination. Great job! Also, kudos to Lauren for pointing out relevant stuff every now and then

This format is fantastic. Much better to see a legitimate prep from getting it out of the fridge and pantry like I’d be doing on a random weeknight

I wish this came out an hour earlier...I just got back from the store to make shrimp tacos. Looks great as always.

Ok, one more thing. This style of video, which I feel may give you anxiety due to the attempts and not super crisp/clean/edited experience is... AWESOME! I love the rawness of it and with lorn keeping it on track and asking the foodie questions rocks, IMHO. You two make a terrific team. ❤ Do more. 🤙

It was so nice seeing you and Lorn together. Even if it was scripted it was great that she asked common sense practical questions. Could tell Bri Guy was nervous. Don’t be. Gonna be watching your more for the sophisticated cooking instructions, practical tips and Loren’s practical questions. Best wishes to both of you.

One of the reasons I got into cooking at home 20 years ago was "30 minutes meals" with Rachael Ray. I LOVE this format. It makes it more realistic and practical for everyday people. Great episode!

I love this format!! Don't get me wrong, I love your more edited videos as well, but this is a really cool look into the process and your kitchen "flow" :) Also, for anyone reading this comment, his chicken schwarma tacos (which I believe are also a weeknighting recipe because they are easy peasy) are *chef's kiss* - we make those at least 2-3 times a month. Definitely going to add this to our rotation as this is even easier!

This is a FABULOUS format - love it! So much good information along the way. And Lorn is a superstar.⭐ Could you please weeknight the sushi inspired salad and asian rice bowl you mentioned? Those sound wonderful.

I love this format, just please keep giving all the little tips to help those of us who are learning what and how. But I have a tip for you. I also buy the pealed garlic, but I keep it in the freezer. Then I remove the cloves I need, put them in a very small bowl, microwave with cover 30 seconds, then crush the garlic. So easy and no waste at all.
