I am 70 and when I was an older teen my grandmother told me she was a flapper when she was young. With my long hair and flair pants then I didn’t ask for any details, but now wish I had.

The book Flapper by Joshua Zeitz centers on Zelda Fitzgerald an icon in the revolution of fashion, jazz and a open relationship on liberism. I especially, liked Coco Chanel & boy with the ideas of hats, button shoes, and dresses measuring above the knee.

I always thought ‘flapper’ came from unbuckled galoshes that young women wore

4:22 United States Clothing police rearing it's head.
Still in existence today... try and go into a courtroom and they have a long list of common clothes you can not wear... you'd be told you can't go in without removing your hat. Yep, you've got a clothing violation going on there.
