Alternative (by which I mean 'wrong') interpretation of this song that literally just came to mind:
This song could be interpreted as being about someone who just went through a traumatic experience. So traumatic, in fact, that his/her mind 'fragmented, ' leaving him/her with multiple 'ghosts' in his/her head, most prominently in his/her dreams. The 'ghosts' are in fact are the various 'fragments' of the person's mind trying to take over the original mind.
The original tried to run from these fragments at first, (metaphorically, obviously) but they're always there, telling him/her that it won't be okay. That there *isn't* a happy ending.
The singer, going by the lyrics, is a particularly malicious and violent part of the original person that has absorbed the other fragments, leaving only the one being sung to and the 'singer' in the mind.

This song has so many potential meanings. It could be a psycho to somebody who views them as a friend, it could be an old friend or lover wronged, it could be somebody out for revenge... Or it could be something infinitely more profound, if the inside of your own mind happens to be a dark and chaotic place, full of hellish misery and greatest ecstasy in tandem. *ahem* But I digress.

When I heard this version of salvaged, I thought of a possible message of the song: maybe springtrap isn’t talking to the security guard, but instead to himself. He could be saying out loud his regrets, remembering how he died, and accepting that the ghost of his pasts that torture him come from him and his actions. Very deep, probably not the actual message. Still cool to think about, though.

The original feels like the villain of the storyline (since this song really doesn’t feel like a fnaf song out of its og context, and I mean that in a good way) telling the main character about how no matter what they do, they’ll always find a way to best them and hurt them. This version tho, especially with just the last chorus, feels like some sort of dark reprise of it where the villain has been defeated and seemingly killed, except once the main character leaves because they think they’re dead, it’s revealed they’re just on the verge of death and sing this version to try and deny their fate, telling themself they’ll find a way to keep terrorizing the hero once they get up, even when they know that isn’t happening.
