After finding a crack in my Corvette's front subframe, my harmonic balancer replacement got a lot more interesting! This is the most involved car repair I've done to date! In this video I show some of the highlights and walk through the first part of the process of dropping the subframe and replacing the dreaded harmonic balancer on these cars.

Only just found the time to watch this video and I've got to say that I'm amazed at what you've achieved, not because you couldn't do it as clearly you're more than capable, but knowing the amount of work you were presented with. Seriously, credit to all concerned. I would have given up a long while ago. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

You can use the jack handle as a breaker bar instead of the PVC. Also, when tightening the harmonic balancer bolt, if the rear wheels are spinning even when in it is in 6th gear, make sure the hand brake is on.

I bought a comprehensive kit bigger than the OEM tools auto zone set of harmonic balancer puller and bolts and the Pittsburgh set, ABN stands for auto body now with the case $24 Amazon

Bro all you had to do was drop the subframe about an inch. Don’t even take the nuts off. Pull the rack in pinion out the drivers side and you have plenty of room to change the harmonic balancer. All in all you got it done and that’s better than what 90% of the population can do. 🤘

What a nightmare. My Z is throwing the belt and squealing at high rpm. I think it’s time to sell her 😵
