Love San Angel - never had a bad meal. The recipes are authentic Mexican - not the Tex Mex that most anticipate.

We have really enjoyed San Angel Inn several times - it's usually a must do for us. Yes, I wish they would remove about a third of the tables to make it more comfortable, but the food has always been magnificent for us, and we have enjoyed talking with our servers about their home in Mexico. And the setting is just gorgeous.

It's weird to see all of the bad reviews for San Angel Inn. We loved the food there. The chips and salsa were great. My husband got some tacos, i got the enchiladas and we were gifted churros and ice cream for dessert. Everything was really good and I'm Mexican so I know good Mexican food lol

I went to Disney the week of December 15th with my husband as our Christmas gift. (It was neither of our first time although Jason hadn't been in 10 years. My last time was 2016) Our favorite park was Epcot and I wanted to add a dissenting voice for your review of San Angel. We had a beautiful romantic dinner as part of our Candlelight Processional package. Not only was the meal top notch (& we live in NYC so we tend to be discerning) but the service was impeccable. Our waiter was very attentive and informative giving us lots of Disney tips and insights. We did have a little bit of a wait for the food but it wasn't unpleasant as we werent in a rush and were enjoying top notch drinks. I had their signature margarita which is actually made with a top shelf tequila and finished with a float of rosè on top. Unique and amazing (you can also get it in Cava) The guac I had for an appetizer was fresh and flavorful and the queso was delicious. I had the steak, which was butchered in house and cooked exactly medium rare, as I requested. I know this is only one experience and you've probably had dozens, but since mine was so different from yours, I wanted to comment.
That being said, I ADORE your blog and you've turned me into a Disney addict (I really didn't have far to go but your blog and videos have pushed me over the edge in the best way!)
Thanks for all the great info and have a magical day!

It's funny. I've heard that same review about San Angel from many people.
We've been very very lucky. Each time we've gone, the food has been decent to very good. AND....we ALWAYS get a table by the water.
Atmosphere....I don't think any restaurant in world showcase is as good. We absolutely love it. Plus it doubles as a small water ride with donald and friends.
The interior of that pyramid is spectacular. And it's one of my very faves.

I disagree with your review of San Angel. I have always had a reservation at the opening of the lunch service (11:30 am) to ensure a table “on the water”. I think this sort of nighttime cool climate atmosphere makes this such a great stop for lunch. You truly get out of the heat and blazing sun. Our food has always been delicious. I also love that the kids can ride the Three Caballeros attraction over and over again while we finished up our meal and pay the check.

Eating at San Angel Inn is our family's first night in Disney tradition. My husband and I grab a drink at La Cava del Tequila while we wait for our requested riverside table and peruse the marketplace. After we are seated and place our order for food, my son and I go hop on Gran Fiesta Tour if the line is short, and my husband holds down the fort (aka orders another margarita). My husband and I enjoy the Carne Asada Tampiqueña and my son has the quesadilla. We lovingly refer to it as "Our Favorite Mexican Restaurant in 'The World'."

I actually love the San Angel Inn! They don't necessarily have the best Mexican food that I have ever eaten, but the food is still really good. Plus the atmosphere is fantastic. In regards to the atmosphere it is one of my favorite places to eat anywhere.

The past 3 WDW trips my wife and I did we didn't sit down to any big meals, we just "Snank and Drink Around the World". We love doing it. We have our spots memorized and know the best items to get each time.
After watching your videos I think next time we'll have to change things up and sit down and eat a meal in EPCOT.

The one time I ate lunch at San Angel it was really good. I was able to get a table by the water so the atmosphere was nice. I ordered off the appetizer menu and I enjoyed it. The margarita was out of this world! So I guess it's hit or miss depending on when you go.

We have always tried to dine at San Angel - true, the tables are now too crowded and true the wait staff and food can sometimes be less than expected - but I don't think it is as bad as you stated - the atmosphere is amazing and truly imagineered in the classic Disney style - make sure you also go on the ride and see Donald, Jose and Panchito!!!

We haven't been back to San Angel Inn since our first trip in 2002. Our best view of IllumiNations is a patio table at the Rose and Crown.

Idk if I was just having a lucky day but my experience at San Angel Inn Restaurante was AMAZING. We went in during the lunch rush after we decided twenty minutes earlier to make a reservation and were told that we'd be seated in a half an hour. My mom and I went to the restroom and by the time we got out, my dad and brother were already being lead to our table. So that half an hour wait turned into 7 minutes at the most. Then we got a table right on the river without requesting it and our server was so sweet. Our appetizers were amazing and the guacamole was by far the best I've ever had. Then our meals came out and they were even better. The portion sizes were huge and since we were going for lunch, we decided not to take our leftovers through the park until it closed but we were seriously considering it since the food was so good. Maybe I just had the luckiest experience there or maybe we just happened to order the best options on the menu lol but I would go back in a heartbeat and I've been recommending it to everyone I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
