Sony really does have these kings of covers on screens
Even my laptop Vaio E series 14p touchscreen had one and recently I just got the cover out because had Scratches on it

i removed the "Sony protector" off my Z1... the screen is all kind of stain magnet  and it goes koko and sometimes plays by its own "very sensitive" thus i had to install another screen protector

That's impressive I think they should add the gorilla glass 3 technology to their devices in addition to the protective cover then that would be the best phone ever

you should test the scratching ting AFTER you remove the factory film known as shatterproof

I have the original xperia z and put the screen protector over it that came in the box day one and there is very little marks on it. I carry large bunch of keys as a security guard sometimes in the same pocket. Also i think you void warrenty if you remove that,
