I remember seeing George Carlin for the first time ever on "The Gong Show" in the 70's. He walked out on stage and sat on a bar stool. He looked around at the audience and said, absolutely nothing for the whole 3 minutes (never got Gonged) and the crowd laughing loudly, absolutely loved it!

Lucky he lived as long as he did. DAMN. I DO love his stand up. "There's a club, and YOU ain't in it!" He was awesome and legendary in his delivery and timing.

I met George once in VT,
I was at a gas station filling up and he pulled up and asked me for directions,
I said " aren't you...."
And he cut me off and said "yes, yes I am"
I was like I love your shit, and gave him the direction of the street he was looking for, and kept shaking my head the rest of the day with a chuckle.
