In the final episode of Crash Course Black American History, Clint Smith teaches you about the Black Lives Matter movement. We'll discuss some of the major events that contributed to the rise of BLM, including the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and George Floyd, and the way that social media was utilized by Black organizers to gain support for the movement.

We ending the series on BLM but not talking about the fact that the money vanished?

Can you talk about the allegations BLM faced, and if they ended up being real or not? As someone who is not american i thinnk it would be an important subject to talk about.

I'll be the first to ask. As a Black American who was skeptical of the movement from the start; are there any accurate sources that show where the funds donated to BLM have been distributed to? I believe recently like this year or last year recently a headquarters in AZ was bashed for not distributing back to the black community which doesn't help the cause of helping black lives matter. Overall informative video besides that aspect not being covered only that is rose awareness of the inequality still faced by Black Americans.

Thank you to the writers and researchers, but also so very much to Clint Smith. No Crash Course series to date has required quite so much of the host. I'm so grateful for your honesty, willingness to share parts of your personal story, and for taking on the enormous burden of teaching this history (even if only at an introductory level) that all Americans need to understand in order to keep us working towards a more just world.

I follow almost all CrashCourse series and Clint was one of the best teachers we had. The clarity and seriousness in his tone of voice was perfect for this theme. I also leave my thanks for the research team behind the scripts. I learned a lot with this series.

Can you guys also do a crash course on native/aboriginal/indigenous history specific to North America . It’s nice to see videos like this because unfortunately most of our schools only gloss over this subject. Also this video was great!

So we're just not gonna talk about the fact that the people who started that organization stole all the money?

I've been watching Crash Course for a decade at this point; since the very beginning. This is without a doubt one of the best series to date. All props to Clint and the amazing team that helped make this series happen, one of my absolute favorites!

I hope we get to see Clint again for more information on anything. I see Clint, I click.

The information, his cadence and dedication is what helped me and my daughter gain some more insight into our history and present.

Booker T. Washington was a great man. Read his book Up from slavery. Then get on with your lives. Stop wallowing in self pity.

Thank you Clint. I am Australia but this is truly eye opening about not only African Americas but also how different groups treat minority groups around the world. Thanks for sharing your stories and others

Clint, I hope you take great pride in this set of videos, it is some of the best documentary content I've seen. Thank you, and your team, for all the work you've done bringing it to us, not to mention that you did it during a pandemic.

We are living in a modern age, and I don't know why some people care about gender, race, and religion. All of us are human being and what we should care is morality matters not color, gender, etc.

Thank you for this. When I left New York City in 2019, after 5 years of weekly protests trying and failing to get justice for Eric Garner (who was murdered one block from my house), I felt like I had failed him. Then, to see millions of young people marching around the world for George Floyd and finding justice, I felt all the earlier years work was worth it. Sometimes, the generation that fails, inspires the generation that wins. And the work continues.

Thank you, Dr. Smith, for starting the process of "uncomfortable conversation" that we must have not just socially, but individually with ourselves - may this series be a vehicle for awareness and inspire justice in all who view it.

A country which "brings" democracy and freedom to Middle East countries seems like couldn't bring that freedom to itself; what a pity.
