Diablo 4 presentations have been, since the start, 90% fluff. When you watch a PoE presentation you feel overwhelmed because there's simply no time to waste, they are really pressed to put everything they can on that small timeframe and it's very difficult because they always add so much. With blizzard it ALWAYS feels like they're expanding 5 minutes of actual updates into hours and hours of nothing. And even on the stuff that matters, they repeat themselves over and over on stuff that should be pretty easy to grasp for the regular player, spreading the little information they have to offer even more thin.
I have no idea how this goes unnoticed.

PoE is a gaming studio that released a trailer of gameplay, and explained new content.

D4 is a marketing office that had a meeting to discuss their product strategy.

Blizzard has 100% always been a explain why we did what we wanted and not what the players wanted company. Atleast for the last 15 years

The biggest issue isnt the class, with their team size and budget, they could have done 2 classes or more.

It's just shocking how can one league of a free to play game simply obliterate it's competitor's all seasons. Like combined. There's more content added than Diablo 4 had in it's entire history. And having these releases on the same day really gives us a contrast and raises question whether Diablo 4 is even going towards true ARPG path.

I think the problem is Blizzard is still trying to do the bare minimum and it shows. It should have been BOTH the Spirit Born and Paladin being added in the expansion.

LoD for D2 had 2 new classes, a new act, Uber endgame content, a revamped item system, and of course Runewords. The best mechanic that diablo games have ever come up with.
They completely rebalanced the game and made it 10x better. Its a high bar that legacy has set, and I've yet to see anything nearly as ambitious with D4.

DM, there is no point to drag out your "achievements and creative process" for an entire hour. Just wondering how long it would take to present poe 3.25 if GGG were to start looking at every aspect of the league - why it's here and how they came to it

As someone who refuses to play any blizzard games anymore My hot take is the fact that Blizzard has absolutely no excuse for Diablo 4 to be in a state like this considering how much money they charge for it how much money they want to charge for the expansion and the fact that they monetize the f out of it on top of that. It's absolutely embarrassing. The amount of work they put in and the amount of content in that game would be acceptable if they had a proper end game and you only had to pay for the game once. But since they developed a model similar to Path of Exile (seasonal cycles of new content) they should really expect people to expect more considering they have a hell of a lot larger team. But the amount of work they're putting in and the amount of content they're adding is extremely lackluster overall.

Based on my experience with D4 and what I've seen advertised about its expansion, I'm finding it difficult to talk myself into buying it. On the other hand, I see many reasons to invest in PoE 2.

If you haven't seen it, you should watch Chris Wilson's speech at the game developers conference. He talks about how they changed their mindset to be "People will leave to play other games. That's fine as long as they come back."

Since I switched to PoE this feeling of embarrassment has left the building. Even with the issues of PoE's last league. A bad PoE league is still more interesting than D4 as a whole imho

He is absolutely correct. Blizzard employees literally think they are better now because they have better tools and understanding for graphics and cgi. When literally what we want is gameplay. Loot filters and stuff to do that feels engaging or rewarding. D4 content feels neither. When they add something they always pat theirselves on the back and give a longer explanation for why then what. They are a bunch of self claimed video game geniuses and you dont know what you want.

D4 doesn't even really feel like D3 with a fresh coat of paint.. it feels like a Diablo knock off game. There's no Diablo, horadric cube, runes, sets, and still missing classses to name a few. Maybe we'll find these in the in game store at some point.
