We've all been there - you draw your starting hand and it's not what you were hoping for. Fear not though, you can still make the best of a bad situation and score a lot points, as this video hopefully shows!

Thanks for the vid! It's always interesting to see how the usefulness of birds like the junco changes over the course of the game. Junco in a starting hand with no wetland birds is practically useless, but it can be so strong by the end of the game if you already have a strong wetland. Really an illustration of how situational these birds are sometimes.

My rookie game dropped 20 points since watching your videos on bird tiers. 😂 I have had no basic strategies and just listening to this helped me understand so much. Thanks, Will!

I’ve never heard of this game but YouTube recommended me this video and even though I didn’t understand much I still enjoyed it, will try the game out later. The only constructive feedback I’d like to add is that the video was flashing a bit during the fast forward, and that can make it difficult to watch for certain people

Another way to think about that 1 point through the screech owl is he just paid for your magpie and black vulture for free for you. It was two food total for those two birds, that's like giving you 3 to 5 points back.

More bonus cards are awesome! I got points off of 3 bonus cards last night but still lost :(. This game has a big luck factor but that is balanced by the reasonably low level of difficulty of play. Wetlands is the most important habitat to build because then you can draw more birds for playing and for tucking. Then Forest, because you need food for playing the birds. I do like this game :).

lol these are my opening hands. i swear half the games i play force me to muck my entire hand and start from scratch because it's so awful. yet i sit here on youtube and watch all these "tips for beginner" videos and most of the dudes get dealt 3 broken cards in their opening hand EVERY GAME. most of them should just re-title their video "watch me play with a horseshoe up your ass"
