Hiraeth (2019) - Sapphic Short Film | 2023 Remaster

In 2019, before TTL was even a thought, our founder Andrew Creak directed their debut narrative short film 'Hiraeth' as part of their application to study a Masters in Film Directing. After receiving the unconditional offer, Andrew ended up deferring the course due to getting a production trainee position on the second series of His Dark Materials.

Now in 2023, Andrew is about to finally start his Masters in Directing, and to celebrate, has remastered the film using the latest technology.

The film was named Hiraeth based off an inaccurate definition of the word, Hiraeth is often mistranslated as 'A feeling of longing or homesickness for a place you can no longer return', and Andrew thought the name perfectly fit the film that was exploring grief, and being unable to return to someone you love. We at Third Time Lucky did discuss changing the name as part of the remaster, but we came to the conclusion that it is better to acknowledge our past mistakes, and not to erase them.
