Back in the day when this first came out, mixing was still "new-ish", and when the tune extends about 3:28, club and crowd went crazy. Rick mos def funked up the place. Nearly 10 years later, Hammer came with his version, video style, with those hot, hot, dancin chicks. Those were the daze.

Rick James can touch MC Hammer, for sure! Legend has it that Hammer never got permission to use the main groove line from "Super Freak". I think that's a main reason why Hammer filed for bankruptcy in 1996 (plus a few bad financial decisions). I guess you could attribute that to karma.

i have never understood why they put the short 3:34 minute something version on the album? and even on the 45 they split Superfreak into 2 parts? all this time the only way to hear the complete version was on the 12inch extended single. THANKS for posting the COMPLETE version that is not heard often these days
