Taylor Sheridan is one the best writers I've seen in my lifetime.

Increasingly rare for a show to be not only consistently well written but also get better throughout the seasons.
This is on par with the legendary shows from the golden age of TV (2000-2014) like Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, True Detective etc...

Grew up with my Dad watching every western that was made for television, from the 1950's onward. Got tired of them. Along comes "Yellowstone". Addicted. Wish there were double the shows in each season. The writing, the actors, the ensemble cast, the story, and of course the stunning location. Does it get any better? Not imho. Takes quality to a whole new level.

Its interesting he says fourth generation. In the synopsis of 1883, it says john's great great grandfather is Tim McGraw, meaning he is 5th generation. This is important if you watched the finale of 1883: (break for spoiler)









The seventh generation is 'fortold' to be when the native americans take back the land. If John is 5th, his grandson in the seventh generation, his mother is native, and this would presumably fulfill that prophecy.
