Texas state legislators heroically fled their state to prevent a massive anti-voter bill from moving forward. Watch these Texas Democrats risk arrest to fight for voting rights. Now is the time to stand beside them.

*** About RepresentUs ***

In the latest voting rights news, Texas Democrats from the Texas House have fled the state to stop a vote on new voting restrictions put forth by Texas Republicans. Texas Democrats are now in Washington D.C. where they will meet with lawmakers like Sen. Joe Manchin and make the case for the For the People Act.

We bring together conservatives, progressives, and everyone in between to pass powerful state and local laws that fix our broken elections and stop political bribery. Our strategy is central to dismantling the root causes of inequities in our democracy, and ending political corruption, extremism and gridlock.

We’ve passed over 124 anti-corruption laws, from anti-gerrymandering and ranked choice voting to sweeping ethics and transparency laws.

Every law that is unconstitutional needs to be challenged and the politician who introduced that law should be fined.

Strip what rights away? Heroically, you use words to support your truth, not the truth.

Getting the electoral system working again should be bipartisan.

Preventing people from providing water at eight-hour-long voting lines isn't something anyone asked for, is it? Is there anyone who asked for legislation limiting the number of voting locations? We're not even talking about voter ID laws or other election securities. We're talking about barricades that you've never heard anyone petition for, which nonetheless appear from your supposed representatives.

These efforts knowingly push the working class out of the system. The harder you work, the less time you get to vote--which is why workers' interests remain so underrepresented. And the people who don't have to work for their money wouldn't have it any other way.

The "For the People Act" isn't for the people at all. I've read it. Laws should never be judged by the title or "intent". You have to judge a law by this question: Can this law be used to further corruption?

The For the people act puts the federal government in charge of states voting and takes away the ID requirements by requiring nothing more than a check mark on an online form. Can this power be used for by the federal government or Big Business Special interests to make up a bunch of un-verified votes to pass something they want or put someone in power that the people didn't vote for? Yes.... This law allows for that. I'm very very much against it. I like the Anti-Corruption Act that RepUS used to push but not this one.

Why use sentimentality to forward your agenda? Please give us unbiased details about the bill. We can make up our own minds to be on the side of justice. We can handle the truth. We can be trusted with the truth. We deserve to be treated as adults. This puff piece is un persuasive to me.
