Human Capital and Economic Growth

Prof André Roux, head of the Futures Studies programmes at the University of Stellenbosch Business School, discussed nine global trends that are changing the "shape and feel" of the world as well as the potential implications. He then dissected the notion of economic growth and its relevance was questioned. Finally, he revisited the link between human capital, economic growth and human development to show that, more than ever before, investment in education, training, and skills development must highlight talents such as agility, adaptability and empathy.
