Lenia (from Latin lenis, “smooth”) is a cellular automaton, like Conway’s Game of Life, but with continuous states and continuous space-time. It supports a great diversity of complex autonomous patterns or "lifeforms" bearing resemblance to real-world microscopic organisms. More than 400 species in 18 families have been identified, many discovered via interactive evolutionary computation.

You could argue it looks like life, but you could also argue it looks like galaxies forming and destroying eachother

To be honest, it more looks more like quantum particles, than living cells.
There's a ton of similarity actually.

Model to as near as possible describe the lattice QCD of a proton and in the process its wave function in terms of a particle life manifold, you can obtain the particle life like manifold rule set, and in the process derive an functional way to describe a unified field theory

Amazing! Bert, have you tried to add some probability in Lenia? It could improve an evolution process. Because now some of species remain unchanged forever which is not as we see in in the real life. Of course it is a new form of live, but a bit boring. Or you could add some physical properties in the world, like gravity..
