SCP-531 | Paired Brass Guard Cats (SCP Orientation)

Today we will be studying Item number SCP-531: Paired Brass Guard Cats, Object class: Safe.

SCP-531 consists of several paired sets of brass statues depicting stylized felines. Their eyes are inset with what appear to be polished tiger-eye stones that give an impression of luminescence, though they do not directly emit visible light.

When a pair of two SCP-531 statues are facing each other they produce a powerful suggestive effect preventing anyone passing between them. If the line of sight between the two statues is broken, observers will be drawn to meet the gaze of one of the orphaned statues themselves. Once the gaze is met by an observer he is unable to break eye contact without an effort of will beyond the capability of most people.

The trapped individual will feel a mental pressure forcing him to crouch down so that his eyes are level with the statue's. After several minutes in this pose the subject's body begins to slowly stiffen and become heavier as a transmutation effect takes hold, converting the subject into a duplicate SCP-531.

I wonder if it only affects humans. It may not affect anomalous or animals. I would think would be easy to test..say on 682, shy guy, or peanut. Judging by 682 fighting off being subsumed by Dr. Bright it may be able to shake off the effect maybe.

Interestingly the image used at 13:13 and 13:32 resembles the internal and external diagram of an electric motor, windings, magnetic poles, casing etc. a stretch as a mirror, but I guess some things need to be kept secret.

I wounder if there is a scp that is the manifestation of the foundations ego or if the effects of said scp is causing them to be egotistical inevetably killing them in ways that would seem normal(by foundation standards of normal) and would have been with the foundation since its earliest years.

This actually doesn't go far enough, and declare it possibly Thaumiel, there are currently 12 copies of this thing making a 3 cage possible, with 4 sided cats on each corner, we know that much of the SCP are actually physical, and on average quite possible to be used just like Grammy Knows SCP (the fortune teller machine of shadow arms) so why not combine these two into a deadly power containment. Especially say....against anything from the Kaktusverse, specifically to see if they can neutralize SCP 1000s while they are being encased by the mist from the upside down tree, I believe that is Titania? And kept as a statue instead, this way they may be able to free Hektor from the bloody tree and maybe help him make good on his promise to Al-Asem

Have they tried to see what waves it produces to better determin how its doing it tranformation(your cell phones produce frequancy waves that your eyes or bodie cant pick up but the other cellulare data can, now if you were to thry to sever the connection with some tin foil, no data or information goes anywhere), this could potentially prevent by-standereds or even just accendental looks
