❄️ Tokyo Disneyland vs Disney World: Just how much better is Japan at Disney? In this Disney ride comparison, I’m taking a closer look at the US Frozen ride vs Tokyo Disney Sea’s Frozen ride.

And I’m also rating it on my super-scientific scale to give you the definitive answer: Is the ride better in Tokyo or in the US?

Frozen Ever After at EPCOT was Disney’s first Frozen ride ever. It opened in 2016, as an overhaul of the boat ride Maelstrom. It’s one of EPCOT’s most popular rides. It takes place after Frozen, but still recreates some iconic scenes. It features some of the most advanced animatronics Disney had made at the time - which also means that these AA figures have projected screen faces.

Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey opened in 2024, as part of Disney Sea’s Fantasy Springs expansion. It retells the events of Frozen, and features many incredibly advanced animatronics. Technology has come a long way in the 8 years between these rides, especially in face animation. But that’s not the only huge upgrade. The sets, special effects, and scope of the ride are all given a big upgrade.

Do you agree with my final ranking? Let me know in the comments!

Honestly Tokyo might just have the perfect versions of each ride.

I heard somewhere they were going to get rid of the animatronics with the screen faces in that ride oh well. They really should

I LOVED that viking ride 😭 it was so cool! I used to go on it with my dad all the time and it hants me to my core that it got replaced by a Frozen ride where there are no stakes and its all cheery with no plot

The trolls on the Norway ride were my favorites ❤️🤍

The one negative I have about the Tokyo version (that the Florida version also has, tbh) is that there was a decent amount of negative space that felt a little off. Everything else was amazing, though. The fountain freezing scene might even be a better effect than the Beast's transformation at TDL

Why WDW relies so much on retheming existing attractions with IP?? They have so much land available, they can build whatever they can imagine from the ground up, but they are too cheap.

Should add that many Asian societies look at European culture and myths like Frozen and The little mermaid in the same way we look at Mulan and Wakanda. Its exotic, different, and intresting!
At epcot Japan is always packed. In their theme park Arrendell is always packed for the same reason.
Its alot cheaper and easier to be immersed in the culture at Disney then actually leaving the country.

Important to note the Tokyo Disney land is not owned by Disney so they have more freedom

Well, of course the one in Tokyo is better, the technology is better in the animatronics are better! They need to fix the one here at Epcot and put an animatronic faces in

The answer to every comparison of these is who paid for it

Now the issue i have with this comparison it the Tokyo is not owned by disney and able to do things different

To be honest, we really shouldn’t compare the United States Disney rides with the Tokyo Disney rides because Japan is in 2050 with their technology

No offense to anyone but why did Disney ever think the projector for faces looked good like to me they always looked weird and cheap and at that point just use screens if u don’t wanna use animatronics
