While using succinylcholine as muscle relaxant respiratory paralysis occurs. This paralysis is not antagonised by acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. By giving ache inhibitors like pyridostigmine, Ach increases and increases the duration of paralysis.

I work in the ED and the doc i scribe for always says to buffer lido with bicarb. Now i know why!

why were we taught that B fibres were the first to be affected by a local anesthetic because they are myelinated? (and nodes of ranvier makes them more susceptible than unmyelinated)
