The latest version of Toyota’s iconic off-road SUV is already an ideal platform for hitting the
trails, but the new Trailhunter trim takes it to the next level.

With that in mind, we partnered with overlanding expert Nathan Mueller of Outdoor Auto to make sure an army of new adventurers is prepared to hit the trails; to have fun, be safe and enjoy the journey.

Nathan has plenty of off-road wisdom learned off the beaten path and he shares it in this video. And he does so while exploring the incredible beauty of one of the best kept secrets of the American wilderness.

So whether you’ve just been bit by the overlanding bug, you’re a seasoned trail hunter, or you just can’t get enough of the new 2025 Toyota 4Runner, this video has something for everyone.

Enjoy!

I dont have a vehicle, dont have any gear. But am aspiring to overland and explore mother nature soon. This video was so good. I was overwhelmed with many videos online and started to wonder if I will ever make the plunge. Thank you for keeping it real.

Niice to see the Trailhunter out on the trails. Look forward to getting one. Tired of all the delays though. Getting on a waiting list this week. Our 2014 4Runner has an OME suspension, fridge, dual batteries, winch and lots of other Overlanding gear. Have done a lot of travels in it

New 4Runner looks great. I would opt for the 4cy non hybrid personally in the off road trim. With that said I prefer the LC for the full time 4x4 while maintaining the other off road goodies.

This is not a review folks. This is marketing.

Great video! If one was going with a roof top tent, do you know if they're normally compatible across brands?

I hate to even say this, but the styling of the new 4Runner reminds me of an early 2000’s Dodge Durango.

2P tent, 30lbs! The size of the that tent bag is twice as large as my Nemo Wagontop 4p tent and its probably half the weight. Does it come with its own fridge and heatsource? Dang.

Your 30lb two-person tent is BOSS! Civil War issue?

Does it have front suspension bump stops? If not the LC250 is the better option for overlanding.

These people are more experts than Toyota Engineers—including expertise on a vehicle that's not released yet.

Well let me tell you, the only constant in this world is change. V6 will eventually be phased out mainstream, because that's how the world works, no matter what this professed critiques say (like their prediction that EVs will not be successful).

Fun fact: Did you know that airplane engines are 80% more efficient than before? That's kind of the same direction car manufacturing will be going, and it's a natural/organic/normal change. By the way that's also one of the reasons why China can't manufacture commercial airplanes because they can't keep up with the technology.

Is the trail hunter more expensive than the TRD Pro?

That is the heaviest 2person tent I have ever seen omg lol. it "only" weighs 30 pounds?! Mine weighs 2lbs!

and set up that tent has less room than mine!

Overlanding is about spending a bunch of money on crap you`ll never use 😁🍺

so does it warrant all the hate of being 4cyl?

0:28 Why is Toyota using such a tiny tie rod and other underbody parts? Are they made of titanium or something? TNGA-F or not, I don’t care. If Toyota is raising prices while lowering quality, they’ll soon lose their fanbase. I believe they’re focusing on short-term lifespans under the guise of reliability.
