Just got back from 14 days and 5000 miles on my RT. In my. opinion, the finest mileage eater available. Between absolute comfort and adjustability, to luggage capacity, to a proper blend of long distance cruiser vs sport bike, to range(over 300 miles per tank), to fuel economy(55 mpg and up), to rain mode and traction control and unparalleled weather protection in the bad stuff, that bike enhanced my trip and added smiles to the miles.

Just bought a 2017 RT, really enjoyed your vlog, no bullshit, just your thoughts on how good the bike is. Good stuff buddy. 😎😎

Outstanding way to do a review Nate! Subscribed. Oh, and since I can have only one bike, it IS an R1200RT.

Thanks for the ride-along. Your video underscores the reasons I purchased my Arctic White 2018 R1200RT. Some call it an 'Old Man's Bike'. I myself am high mileage so to speak so I guess that description fits me. That's fine. To each his or her own opinion. For me, it's everything I want or need. Heavy (relatively speaking) - Yes. Expensive - Yes. Fun - You better believe it.
We RT guys don't get as much attention as the GS / GSA side of the house so thanks again for the video post.

hi buddy from south Africa. I was also considering the 125 RT, but in our country all RT's come without a few of the options which I really like on a bike. The audio system, keyless go, etc. The BMW topbox also cost more than 10% the price of the bike. So I went for the k1600 GTL, option 719. I fee thel only disadvantage when compared to the RT is the weight, but you don't feel it once rolling. I really use the audio system, especially when riding in built up areas where the max speed limit is 60kph. You guys are fortunate to get the RT fully loaded. safe riding bud. I also found the quickshifter not smooth at all in the fisrt 3 gears, the 1600 is butter smooth in all gears at any speed. Love it.

I rented them for a couple trips and loved them (even before they had all the bells and whistles) except for 2 things. One is there doesn't seem to be a good way to mount highway pegs. Two is it handles like a kite in heavy winds. Engine and handling were fantastic for a two up tourer.

OMG! Not nice. I would love to have an RT. Just not in the cards just yet but I’m working on it for next year. Im hopping to find a nice used one. Steering clear of the dealerships of course.... cheers 🍻

Great presentation of the BMW R1200RT. I agree with everything you said--fantastic bike. I am curious, however, if you ever ride it in hot weather? The fairing is so efficient that, in my limited experience of riding one of these, I couldn't get enough air moving around my body to sorta, kinda facilitate the evaporative cooling process. Are there any aftermarket accessories that can be attached to the bike to direct air flow onto the rider? Thanks again for the comprehensive presentation.

Nice part of the country - not much traffic to deal.

This is my next purchase. It has to be used unfortunately but I've seen quite a few with low miles at a nice price. I wonder if BMW has a warranty for used bikes? I cringe when thinking of repair costs for these bikes when out of warranty.

Is it easy to put it in neutral? Does it have a positive neutral finder by any chance? My last bike was a pain to find neutral... Seriously considering this bike.

Hello Nate I hope all is well, I appreciate your videos and your sharing your knowledge with us. I want to pick your brain if I may, I recently purchased my first ever BMW, a 2019 GSA . I am thinking about adding an RT as well . My problem is do I get a 1200 RT and save about 4/5 grand or go for a good used 1250 RT . I love my 1250 GSA but have no experience with a 1200 .
If height makes a big difference on the RT I am 6.1 . Thanks for any thoughts you may have .

I like this bike but I would choose a version with fewer electronics. Fancy electronics tend to break and are expensive to repair. With so many automatic features we are effectively de-skilled as riders.

Thank you so much for this video. Being 5’7” how do you find yourself handling a passenger on the back? I’m 5’8” w a 30” inseam and find it almost impossible with anyone over 100lbs being on the back due to being on the balls of my feet at stops. Please give me some advice. If it matters, my r1200rt is a 2006.

Is that normal shifting gear from 2nd to neutral

Have you ever had or ridden a GSA? Would you still prefer the RT over the GSA?
