ℹ️ About the Episode: One of the most rewarding aspects of traveling by RV is that you meet great people along the way. When we were in Auburn, AL, earlier this year, Ronnie & Tera (with Airstream Nuts & Bolts) invited us to a wine-paring dinner at Lucy's. Mark Pisoni with Pisoni Family Vineyards was also there, sharing his amazing wines. He captivated us with the story of how his grandmother secretly gave his dad the money to keep looking for water in the hills of Big Sur to grow their grapes. We remembered the story vividly, and when we were near Big Sur on this trip, we wondered if Mark was around so we could share his vineyard with the KYD Community. He graciously said yes and invited us to his property, where we met another RV couple that also inquired about stopping by after tasting Pisoni wine the day before at lunch. (Yes, it's that's good!) In this episode, we start at the Pisoni Family Vineyard and then travel along Highway 1 to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. We only forgot one crucial resource to complete our dry camping experience!

What a wonderful vineyard. Thankyou for taking us on the tour. The State Park looked like fun too. Remember to fill the water tank before parking the RV though!

This trip brought back memories of the weekend my husband and I spent in the area. Beautiful coastline.

Invest in a water bladder. Doesn’t take up much room and comes in handy often enough to make the investment worthwhile. Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely video! We so enjoyed your visit to the vineyard, and the park at Big Sur. It's funny, we watched CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley this morning. The show had a segment in Big Sur, and the restaurant you ate at. The views along the highway, and at the restaurant were amazing.

Great video! It has been interesting that my wife has finally joined the team and watches your videos with me each Sunday night.

We have been dry campers for almost all of our camping. When we sold our tent-trailer we were asked if the water system worked. I had to honestly reply, "I don't know. I've never used it". When we upgraded to a Travel Trailer we learned the processes of using the water system and going to Dump Stations.

This summer we arrived at a campground to discover that they had a boil-water alert and we chose NOT to fill our Fresh Water Tank. This was not the first time that this has happened, but previously we'd always be able to find a clean water source and fill our tanks. However, this time, we were stuck! Thank goodness we had some bottled water on board, but we had to boil water for dishes and cooking. Since then we have filled up our Fresh Water Tank and Portable Jugs before departing each campground, to ensure we have water at the next campground. So, this week we will fill up with water at home, before heading of for a few nights in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario. Looking forward to some Fallish camping.

While not my story, it was from my brother. He and his wife RV full time. They had been in California for several months and were heading to Reno, NV. He said it was the fastest he went from absolute glee to deep despair. Near the NV border, he found Diesel for approx $5.75/gal which was huge drop from the $7.75+/gal prices he had been paying for many weeks. That was the glee part, when he filed up his 150 gal tanks. the despair came when he drove another approx 5 miles and just over the NV border, found diesel for $3.25/gal.

Thanks for introducing us to Southern Call…!!! Just downloaded the album and loving it. Cactus Flower is on continuous repeat right now. Y’all just continue to create amazingly great content!

My wife would love your idea of dry camping! Forget the water, punt on cooking and head out to a restaurant. good food, good wine, and no mess to clean up! She would love that. Looks like you had a good time even with "little issues". Big Sur is on my bucket list, hopefully we get out there someday soon.

I loved watching this episode as I just got back last night from my PCH road trip! I flew into San Francisco, spent the first night in Redwood City, 2nd night with my Aunt NeeNee in Santa Cruz, night 3 in Monterey and drove the Pebble Beach 17 Mile drive the next morning as well as driving over the Bixby Bridge, coffee and a donut in Carmel then on to Morro Bay and spent night 4 in Ojai. Next stretch was Ventura where I went to the botanical gardens and the pier for the best fish taco then to Malibu and through LA to Orange County where on night 7 I saw Toad The Wet Sprocket open for Counting Crows. What a week! Much of it inspired by your travels ❤

Beautiful scenery. Doubt we will ever travel back that way.
I have biked over the SF bridge into Sausalito and had lunch then took the ferry back to SF. Pretty awesome!!
