Sadly as a Dutchman I cannot vote for senator Sanders, but I have been continually impressed and awed by the honesty, well-weighed and informed opinions and sheer competence radiating from this man. I watched his appearance on BBC and ZML to promote his latest book and did not need more convincing to buy it. At least that way I supported the honourable senator while informing myself.

Politicians come in all shapes and sizes and senator Sanders is one that fits the position of elected official well, yet it is sad that he is rather an exception. In my country, The Netherlands, we too suffer with democratic backsliding and politicians spreading misinformation, lies or claiming ignorance. If only we had such an honest politician to guide us.

Thank you for your service, senator! May you find peace in all your accomplishments and remain in office for yet another term.
