Theologian / Ancient Methods 'La Saignée' Split EP

metaphysik brings Ancient Methods and Theologian together into one sphere, with the intention to juxtapose their energy and aesthetic elements alike. As both commenced as strangers and worked separately, the split has developed, gravitating naturally towards the themes of love and death.

A
“Death Elemental” by Theologian is a relentless and compelling journey featuring wistful cello by Gretchen Heinel and synth by Daniel Suffering.
B
“A German Love” by Ancient Methods delivers a pounding pace creating an unforgiving wall of sound, while “Built on Scars” is supported by a pulse heavy rhythm.

The split release comes in a screen printed sleeve. Each copy is hand numbered up to 400. A special print is reserved for the first 150 copies. The mastering is done by Rashad Becker who has yet again proved is talent.

Side A.
Recorded and produced by Theologian Prime at Abandon All Hope, 2014. Cello by Gretchen Heinel. Synth by Daniel Suffering.

Side B.
Composed by Ancient Methods.

Um, when I was brand new to Germany, but I had met a German girl,  a beautiful red-headed German girl, and, uh, I didn't know that she was completely, absolutely insane. So we went out on a date, and it started off, like, really nice and ended horribly. Hahaha

Um, we had a really nice dinner and everything, and then we went to her place. We were making out in her driveway, and she said "I want you to hurt me". And I was like "Hmm, maybe she doesn't know what she's saying". And she said "I want you to hurt me". And then she took me into her house, and you know she was going to go into her house and get changed, I'm like "Yeah, I'll wait for you right here", and like "No, you're coming inside". And there's not a whole lot of lights. And there's not a whole lot of lights. Inside. Germany. And there's not a whole lot of lights

And then she asked if I wanted to go upstairs, and I was like "Yes!", and I like, jumped out of the thing and went upstairs, and suddenly, she pulls off her clothes, and it was like scars everywhere. Everywhere. Scars. Everywhere. Scars. Inside. Germany. Scars. Everywhere. And I was like, "Did you do that to yourself? I mean, does it hurt?" and she says "It's not painful at all. It just helps me to remember things that happened to me." That happened to Germany. Germany. Remember the scars. Germany. Remember the pain. Germany. Remember there's not a whole lot of lights

You know, so then that was, like, strike two. And then, uh, and then we went to the club, and we were having a good time, and we were makin' out again, and she told me she loved me. And she told me she loved me. And she showed me cigarette burns, and that was it. I started freaking out. I was like "Look, you're seriously fucked up. Alright, how do you know you love me, we only met like a week ago. We're going out on our first date, and you show me you love me by burning yourself? I mean, you have got to get help." So I just crossed my arms and I was like "I want to go home right now!" And she drove and I didn't have her car, and like a little one word dialogue, the car stopped, and she just kinda laughed and said: "You don't know anything about German love, did you know that?"

I have been absolutely obsessed with this track since I first heard it. I can't explain it. It's clearly not for everyone - in fact, probably not for most people. But the ones that it is for - Christ, is it really for us.

This one sounds sick live, cause despite being drugged n kinda hypnotised by the rhythm, u still pay attention to the lyrics, so when the song ends u r like: whoa, back on Earth
