I LOVED this scene in both the manga and anime, can't quite explain it, but it's wild to see her, as she's falling/sinking to her (probable) death, she thinks of Roger, and those famous words, and we're reminded that she is from that era, rogers era - and yet, she still knows nothing more about the One Piece than anyone else. I like seeing villains "final thoughts" or words.

Kinda bitter sweet end, after Roger past the yonkos were pretty much left behind to guard the last island and deal with all the troubles that came with the new era

Honestly, it was one of the few moments I really felt for her. As terrible as she is.. or possibly was she like so many others set out with a dream. She came insanely close and then suddenly out of nowhere as goofy would put it, a crack head and his band of lunatics showed up and ruined decades of work. Never even seeing Laugh tale in the distance Big Mom falls for the first and last time, unfulfilled, alone away from any of her kids, and the last thing we see any of her kids talking about before she gets beaten is who's replacing her as captain if she dies. If she's dead, she truly died a villains' death with her subordinates/ children caring more about taking charge than her own life

These last words really were sad. It's not so much about not finding One Piece, it's more about...being left behind. Linlin was always left behind. To the point where she'd kill someone before letting them leave her again.
