Erin and Dave are a newly married couple in Buffalo. They met in a dumpster.

When they’re not working their regular gigs as a small business owner and a social worker, they forage in dumpsters and sell what they find — everything from champagne boxes to emergency vehicle sirens. With regular dumpster diving, they pull in a bunch of extra income. But can this trash money make a dream come true and buy them a boat?

Making good money, helping out your community and providing people cheaper goods that otherwise would have gone to the landfill.
Nothing but respect to that couple.

When you hear how they met then you know they are 100% meant for each other.

They literally found their significant other dumpster diving. Talk about having a trash partner. They are goals tho.

all jokes aside this is one of the absolute most socially and environmentally healthy side hustles that someone could possibly do.

I worked for a supermarket for a few years and basically everyday we had to throw out good food because it was expired. Even though it was our policy that we don't allow dumpster diving (legally it's theft where I live ). I only threw out dairy/meat/eggs but I left other stuff that was still good next to the container for people like these to pick it up.

He's made dumpster diving so effective as his side hustle, even has a systematic way of collecting as his wife said. Buying a boat off of it, must be a ecstatic. And even found his wife in the dumpster, I must say he's really good

"Sometimes I can't believe people are buying some of things he is selling... But they keep buying... And we keep making more money"

Get it girl, they're helping the environment more than any recycling program out there! Way to go!!!

This is so commendable and worthy of respect. It's one thing to recycle your cardboard but these people give food to the poor, provide things to others on ebay for less than they would normally pay, and make the best use possible of things that would otherwise go to waste. Beautiful couple. They'll surely last a lifetime.

I used to dumpster dive a lot! At first my friends thought it was gross but after seeing all the stuff I found, they all wanted to come along!

I'd easily find a bunch of stuff to sell and cool things to keep. It was like a free night out of exploration 😁. When it came to food... honestly I didn't pay for cereal for over year lol. One day, I found 60 boxes of cereal and 50 cartons of long life milk but I gave it all to a foodbank. Apparently there is even a newsletter with a thanks to me on it eheh.

I grew up dumpster diving not from being poor but from the thrill of the hunt, and believe me there's nothing like finding cool stuff for FREE

Kind of miss working for a junk removal company the one summer. It was pretty crazy to see some of the perfectly good stuff people would want to get rid of. Pretty sure we could have started our own thrift store with a lot of the stuff people were just throwing away.
