Poetry in Motion - Wine in a Coffee Cup

Amber says: I have to write about this project personally. There’s only a small group of people in my life that really know about my poetry and how much it means to me. Last year I started going through 22 years of works and compiling them, preparing to make a book. I believe these are the most vulnerable pieces of art I have ever created and it’s time to unleash them.
When I met Jim and he told me he appreciates poetry, I got excited with an idea to bring them to life visually. His response was that he’s wanted to do something like this for years. Perfect.
This is the FIRST video release (of a series) that will coincide with my book!!
I wrote this poem about 15 years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. Obviously there was a breakup involved, but it goes much deeper than that. It’s an ode to that time in my life where I was living in an efficiency apartment, spending a lot of time alone painting and drinking cheap red wine out of the only solid cups I owned.
Jim and I brainstormed, he drew up a storyboard, we filmed, edited and the only thing we needed to tie a bow around it was music. Huge thanks to Mike Machian of Shouting Bird for creating something that we felt fit perfectly.
To give the video a raw, emotional feel, Jim shot handheld with his trusty @zcamcc E2, and for lighting used a @gvmled Pro SD650B led with an optical snoot, for the spotlight effect.
